Network Resilience Live Labs
We are leading a pilot project called Live Labs. We’re working with:
- Birmingham City Council
- Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council
The project uses video technology to monitor congestion across the transport network. It’s part of the ADEPT SMART Places Research Programme. It’s funded by the Department for Transport and runs until November 2021.
We’re aiming to:
- increase capacity, improve efficiency and manage demands on roads
- understand travel behaviour before, during and after large-scale infrastructure projects
- make car journeys more efficient through personalised travel planning
We’ll also use this project to extend what the Regional Transport Coordination Centre (RTCC) can do. We use the RTCC to manage disruptions to the network.

We publish newsletters about the Live Labs project. You can read issue 2 online.
