M6 J10

Black Country Route

Ends: 1 July 2021

Last updated: 14 June 2021

What’s happening?

Walsall Council is working in partnership with Highways England to improve Junction 10 of the M6 motorway.

M6 junction 10 is of strategic importance within the Black Country and the wider region, it is on a busy route between Walsall and Wolverhampton.
The junction is often heavily congested, and this reduces the attractiveness of the local area for business and investment, including within the nearby Black Country Enterprise Zone.

M6 Junction 10 will be closed from 8pm Friday 6 August - Monday 9 August. See M6 J10 below for more information.

Black Country Route

The Marshland Way slip road exit on to the Black Country Route A454 Westbound will be closed overnight from 10pm to 5am from Monday 1 to 18 June inclusive.

A diversion to Keyway roundabout and back on to the Eastbound carriageway will be in place during these closures.

From 5 - 6 June, 12 – 13 June & 19 - 20  there will be a full closure overnight on the Eastbound Black Country Route A454 with a diversion  across M6 J 9 to Old Pleck Road.  Single Lanes will run during the day at this time.

From 19 – 25 June, 28 – 30 June and 1 July 2021 there will be a full closure overnight of the Westbound Black Country A454 from 10pm to 5am.  The signed diversion will run to the Keyway roundabout and back on the eastbound carriageway.

Travel tips

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

Use a different route. If you do have to use the car, check your route before you leave. Google Maps or a Sat-Nav with live traffic updates will help you pick the least congested route each time.
Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey. If you travel, you’ll need more time for your journey to take account of changes and diversions.
